About Us
Ours is a gang of friends with a common aim of making it big in the entertainment media. Big dreams we have for our group Gangwayz and today, we are well on our way to fulfilling them.
While the journey to success has not been smooth, we choose to ignore the lows and live by the highs an award for Nenapina Pocket, a short film celebrating friendship; the making of the well-received spoof on film and media industries, Ugibandi, and the production of several plays, short films and documentaries.
Neither the shortage of Vitamin M (Money! What else?), the constant need to explain to the world about why we are not doing something “constructive” and “mainstream”, nor a hit and miss tryst with Sandalwood has left the Gangstars exhausted... not at least when friends double up as impromptu musicians and stand up comedians to cheer each other up all the time.
While friendship holds the gang rock solid, each one’s ability and creative talent has come in handy during our innovative efforts. Theatre enthusiasts, fashion designers, writers, artists, musicians, animators, techies, businessmen, media professionals and students make the 30-member group, which is an offshoot of Mime Ramesh’s GPIER.
Having a cross section as part of the team has only ensured exchange and implementation of ideas. But GangwayZ is just not about making films and plays. Equal importance is attached to viewing of movies and plays so as to understand and analyse the processes of making films and staging dramas. In short, GangwayZ is a platform for creative expression.
